Microarray Center - Guidelines & Policies

As a national platform, the microarray center offers you an access to its equipments (arrayer, liquid handling system, Bioanalyzer, Nanodrop, hybridisation and washing stations, microarray scanner, softwares). It is also willing to provide you with all the assistance you may need for your research, including literature, protocols, and support in bio-informatics or bio-statistics. However, the microarray center does neither bear the costs for consumable expenses nor perform experimental work for external users, apart from a special agreement or a collaborative project.

Please, read our terms and conditions here.

Since microarray equipments are delicate and expensive pieces of machinary, users are asked to operate the systems very carefully. New users must be trained by someone experienced of the Center prior to operating. Our local staff may also be able to help, please ask them if you need assistance.

Booking is made by e-mail. To ensure every one has an opportunity to work, please limit bookings to 2hrs per day between 9:00 -17:00. If the scanner is free after your time is up, you may remain until someone else needs it. Be considerate of other users, do not hoard scanner time. Also, if you wish to cancel a booking, please inform our local staff in due time.

1. Microarrayer

These equipments are only handled by trained people from the microarray center according to user's requests.

The microarray center is not committed to providing spotting material (cDNA, oligonucleotides, proteins or glass slides), but our local staff may help you in choosing a commercial provider.

2. Scanner

These equipments are only intended for use within the platform itself. Users have to bring their samples and hybridised slides to the Center to analyse them.

User manuals are available and should be referred upon if necessary.

3. Data analysis

There are several workstations connected to a local area network available for microarray data analysis in the Microarray Center. The lab has purchased a network licence allowing up to 5 concurrent users for Genepix Pro, and single-user licence for Acuity.

The workstation connected to the scanner is dedicated to scanning microarrays and image analysis with GenePix Pro. Please, do not book time on it for transferring data or for using Acuity. There is one computer for data transfer. It is equipped with a CD and DVD burners (please, bring your CD/DVD with you).

Users manuals for the two analysis programs are available at our center should you need to refer to them. Our local staff may also be able to help.
